Indian Government issues clarification on Gaurav Arya’s insult to Iranian Foreign Minister

A provocative remark by Major Gaurav Arya, an Indian TV host and former Indian army officer, has ignited a diplomatic controversy between India and Iran.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The controversy surrounding Gaurav Arya’s use of offensive language against the Iranian Foreign Minister, along with false and misleading reporting during these sensitive times of conflict, has escalated significantly.

India’s foreign policy, cultural values, and the tradition of ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ (Guest is God) were brought into disrepute when Gaurav Arya, who claims to be a defense expert, used derogatory language for Iran’s Foreign Minister during a television debate. These remarks were not only broadcast live on air but the clip also went viral particularly in Iran, prompting a sharp response from the Iranian embassy in New Delhi, which emphasized Iran’s cultural tradition of respecting guests and questioned India’s stance.

Condemning this disgraceful act, the Embassy of Iran in India tweeted:

“Respect for guests has been a long-standing tradition in Iranian culture. We Iranians consider our guests as ‘beloved of God’. And you?”

This question has not only been posed to Gaurav Arya but to the entire Indian media and government, raising concerns about whether such individuals who tarnish India’s global image will continue to be tolerated.

In response, Maulana Kalbe Sibtain Noori, Chairman of the All India Knowledge & Wisdom Board (AIKWB), issued a strong statement, declaring:

“Such irresponsible journalists are not only damaging India’s international reputation but are also misleading the public and posing a serious threat to national security.”

He urged the central government to take strict legal action against Gaurav Arya to send a clear message to those who spread lies.

Religious leader Maulana Iftikhar Hussain Inquilabi also strongly condemned the incident, calling it an ethical and diplomatic assassination of India. He said:

“A traitor has attacked India’s civilization, culture, and global prestige. Such ignorant and toxic individuals should be thrown into prison. They are neither patriots nor servants of the nation, but agents working on the agenda of America and Israel to distance India from its true friends.”

The Indian embassy in Tehran quickly distanced itself from Arya’s remarks, clarifying that he is a private citizen and his comments do not reflect the Indian government’s position, which deemed the language inappropriate.
