Senegal Hosts Muslim Scholars’ Dialogue on the Future of Palestine

At the gathering of Islamic scholars in Senegal, the Islamic Republic of Iran’s proposal to resolve the Palestinian crisis through a public referendum and recourse to the will of the people took center stage in the discussions.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): A conference titled “The Role of Islamic Scholars in Global Developments with a Focus on Palestine and the Explanation of the Supreme Leader’s Initiative on the Future of Palestine” was held in Dakar, the capital of Senegal.

Outlining the Supreme Leader’s Perspective on the Future of Palestine

At the gathering, Majid Rezaei, Head of the Africa Department of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly provided an overview of the current situation in Gaza and Palestine. He also elaborated on the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution’s view regarding the necessity of holding a referendum among the people of Palestine.

Dr. Abdolhossein Kalantari, Advisor to the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly also addressed the event, denouncing the crimes committed by the Zionist regime in Palestine and stressing the urgent need for Muslim unity in confronting this root of corruption.

Palestine: The Foremost Issue of the Islamic World

“Palestine is the foremost issue in the Islamic world,” Kalantari asserted, emphasizing that this cause has captured the hearts and minds of free people across nations and faiths.

The advisor to the Secretary-General further noted that the crimes committed by the Zionist regime have become boundless. “This illegitimate regime is engaged in genocide and the killing of children in Palestine, and it is pursuing ethnic cleansing through modern-day apartheid,” he said.

Zionist Crimes and the Silence of Arab States

Kalantari, who is also a member of the Policy Council of ABNA News Agency, remarked, “We are pleased that African nations, especially the Muslim communities across the continent, have responded to the issue of Palestine with timely and appropriate actions. We have gathered here to exchange views and share our experiences and ideas on this crucial issue.”

Criticizing the inadequate support of Arab governments and the Arab League for Palestine, he added, “It is evident that the fire ignited by Israel will eventually reach them as well. Yet the people of the world, beyond ethnic or geographic divides, have and continue to voice their outrage at these atrocities.”

The School of AhlulBayt (a.s.) Does Not Remain Silent in the Face of Oppression

Kalantari stressed that the solution to the Palestinian issue lies in respecting the fundamental rights of its people. “The other essential solution is to allow the people of Palestine, regardless of ethnicity, religion, or background, to determine their own fate,” he said.

He concluded by underscoring, “The school of AhlulBayt (a.s.) is built on love, compassion, and human dignity. It neither accepts oppression nor commits it, and it cannot remain silent in the face of injustice, especially when that injustice is inflicted upon Muslims. Therefore, everyone is obligated to take a stand in whatever way they can. The real question is not for those who care about Palestine, but for those who have chosen to remain silent.”

It is worth noting that during the conference, 15 participants shared their perspectives on the necessity of supporting the oppressed people of Palestine.
